GLOSS / RLS

GLOSS and RLS-GD gloss sensors measure surface gloss on the production line, contact-free and continuously, at standard angles such as 20°, 60° and 85°.
Gloss sensors direct light onto the surface at a defined angle and determine the gloss level from the reflected light. The GLOSS series covers the standard angles of 20° (high gloss), 60° (semi-gloss) and 85° (matt) as well as the 45° and 75° TAPPI angles used in the paper industry; it stands out for a small measuring spot, compact design and high speed. The RLS-GD series measures direct and diffuse reflection at the same time, which gives an intensity-independent result, and is highly insensitive to ambient light.
These sensors are used for 100 % inline inspection of visible surfaces on products such as plastic sheets, wall and floor coverings, furniture coating materials and ceramic tiles. The analogue output of the GLOSS sensors transmits the gloss value continuously, while the digital outputs flag out-of-tolerance products. The RLS-MD types in the same family detect line marks on different backgrounds without changing settings.

GLAST
GLAST sensors inspect surface quality inline on highly reflective surfaces such as stainless steel, aluminium and paint, and on transparent glass and film.

SPECTRO-M
SPECTRO-M mid-infrared (MIR) sensors measure the thickness of thin oil and plastic layers on metal surfaces inline, from 0.1 µm upwards.
