Software support and training for the defence industry
On a lab bench with a camera, lighting and sample parts, the inspection tool chain is built step by step: locate, measure, decide. The same steps are repeated on the training stations and handed over to the team.
Every tool-chain step appears on all training displays. The illustrative measurement result and stack light support comparison of an acceptable sample with one outside tolerance.

Need
Samples arriving at different angles make it difficult to tie measurement regions to fixed image coordinates. The reflective plate can produce varying contrast at hole edges.
Solution approach
An overhead camera and ring light image the sample together. Part position is located first, then hole regions are aligned to the part; measurement and tolerance comparison appear in the same order on the main display and training stations.
Process steps
- 01
Acquire
The ring light strobes and the image of the sample part is acquired.
- 02
Locate
Pattern matching finds position and angle; the measurement regions follow the part.
- 03
Measure
Hole centres are found; hole pitch and diameter are measured.
- 04
Decide
The measurement is compared with the tolerance window; every station shows the result.
