Pattern repeat and colour misregister inspection on printed fabric
Patterned fabric at the print exit passes a colour line-scan camera. The live repeat is aligned to the reference; colour misregister and missing print are shown on a difference map, and a persistent error generates a machine alert.
Misregister and repeat measurements are sent to print-machine control. A persistent error generates an alert; reference and live images are shown together on the operator display.

Need
Fabric tension changes repeat length and position. Colour boundaries, missing print and dye splashes within the same motif can be confused without reference alignment.
Solution approach
An overhead colour line-scan camera acquires print under diffuse bar illumination. The repeat image assembled with an encoder is aligned to the reference; colour-channel offsets, repeat length and local missing-print regions are compared separately.
Process steps
- 01
Print exit
Fabric enters the scan region before drying.
- 02
Diffuse light
Bar light illuminates the print.
- 03
Repeat image
The pattern image is assembled with an encoder.
- 04
Align
The live repeat is compared with the reference.
- 05
Machine alert
Persistent misregister becomes an alert.
