Screen print, display, knob and position check on control panels
The panel is imaged in its test nest in two stages: screen print, buttons and knob position in the lit image; then, with the station dimmed and the panel powered, display segments and LEDs are verified region by region.
The region-by-region result of each panel is written to the test record; a faulty panel is flagged in its nest on the stack light and the display and is held back from assembly. The result is stored in the traceability record with the panel ID.

Need
Two conflicting requirements meet on the same panel: print and key position need an evenly lit surface, while display segments and LEDs can only be counted reliably once the station is dark. The glossy body and curved surface produce reflections.
Solution approach
A single area-scan camera frames both nests. In the first image the upper and lower bar lights illuminate the surface at a low angle; print, key row and knob position are compared region by region with the template. The station is then dimmed, the panel is powered, and each region is evaluated separately while display segments and LEDs are switched on in sequence.
Process steps
- 01
Loading
Two panels sit in the test nests and the clamps close.
- 02
Print & keys
Under bar lighting, print, button row and knob position are compared with the template.
- 03
Light-up test
The station dims; display segments and LEDs are lit in sequence and counted.
- 04
Decide
The region results are combined for each panel.
