Seating and continuity check of door gaskets
The gasket perimeter of a door in a horizontal fixture is scanned by a laser profile sensor on a Cartesian axis. Cross-section height and channel position are compared with a reference; a door with a raised corner is directed to the repair station.
Non-conforming cross-sections are recorded with their perimeter positions; the raised region is marked on the display. Line control directs the NG door to the repair station.

Need
Flexible gaskets bend at corners; height references vary between door sheet metal and the plastic channel. A top image alone cannot distinguish a gasket with a complete perimeter that is not seated.
Solution approach
A Cartesian gantry carries the sensor around the full gasket perimeter; the laser line crosses the channel on each edge. Gasket peak height and lateral position are measured relative to the door surface; corner sections are compared with a reference profile and tolerance band.
Process steps
- 01
Position
The door is located in the fixture with its inner surface facing up.
- 02
Acquire
The gantry moves the sensor along the edges and corners.
- 03
Analyse
Cross-section height and channel position are measured against the reference profile.
- 04
Decide
The raised corner is recorded; the door is flagged for repair.
