Reading and aggregating traceability codes at pack, carton and case level
Pack, carton and case codes are read at separate stations. Child codes are linked to the parent packaging code; an unreadable, repeated or incorrectly linked record holds the case at the exit.
The pack-carton-case relationship is written to the product record. An incorrect link or duplicate code holds the case at the exit; the problematic tree node is shown to the operator.

Need
Pack and parent-packaging records originate at different stations. Glare, poor print or a repeated code can separate physical packaging from the aggregation record.
Solution approach
Fixed readers acquire codes at each level with the relevant station trigger. Aggregation software verifies child-parent links and code uniqueness; pack, carton and case relationships are shown in an operator tree, and an error record removes exit permission.
Process steps
- 01
Pack
Individual pack codes are read.
- 02
Carton
Packs are linked to the carton code.
- 03
Case
The carton code is matched with the case.
- 04
Verify
Code uniqueness and parent links are checked.
- 05
Exit permission
Incorrect aggregation holds the case.
