Lid, tax-stamp and film-wrap inspection on packs
Packs are imaged by overhead and side cameras under diffuse light. Tax-stamp position, lid closure and film reflection are compared; a nonconforming pack is removed by a pusher.
Tax-stamp, lid and film decisions are written to the pack record. Line control drives the pusher; the defective pack goes into the reject bin and its image is shown on screen.

Need
Clear-film glare can obscure the tax stamp; a lid gap depends on viewing angle. Film tears and normal fold lines produce different reflection patterns.
Solution approach
Overhead and side views are used together under diffuse light. The tax stamp is evaluated by template and position, and the lid edge by closure gap; reflection interruptions in the film are searched with normal fold regions masked out.
Process steps
- 01
Infeed
The pack enters the camera area.
- 02
Trigger
The photo-sensor detects the pack.
- 03
Two views
Overhead and side images are captured.
- 04
Assembly check
Tax stamp, lid and film are compared.
- 05
Reject
The pack with a missing tax stamp is pushed out.
