Presence check of sachets and accessories in packs
Before closing, an overhead camera images the contents of the open pack under diffuse light. Sachet and accessory shapes are sought in the expected regions; a pack missing the sachet is rejected before closing.
The presence result goes to the PLC; the missing sachet region is shown on the operator display and the pack is diverted to the reject route before closing.

Need
A small sachet may have a similar colour to the pack contents; glossy wrapping and folded edges obscure its shape. A displaced accessory can appear to be missing.
Solution approach
An overhead camera views the open pack under broad diffuse light. Pack edges provide a position reference; sachet and accessory contours are verified in separate search regions using rule-based shape matching.
