Pulse and legume sorting
Grains spread in a single layer are scanned by a line-scan camera at the end of the belt. A grain whose colour lies outside the product cluster, or a foreign body such as a stone, is located; as it falls, the air valve in line with it opens and deflects it into the reject bin.
Outlier position and valve number go to sorting control. An air pulse deflects the object into the reject bin; conforming grains flow into a separate product crate.

Need
Natural grain tones vary; shadows and overlap distort the colour cluster. The belt position of a dark grain or stone must be matched to the correct air valve during its fall.
Solution approach
A single-layer flow is scanned by a transverse line camera and bar light. Each object colour is compared with the product cluster; outlier position is tracked to the belt edge. Flight time and lateral position determine the pulse of the corresponding air valve.
Process steps
- 01
Scan
The grains pass under the scan line in a single layer.
- 02
Classify
The colour of every grain is compared with the product cluster; an outlier is flagged.
- 03
Eject
As the flagged object falls, the air valve in line with it fires a short pulse.
- 04
Split
Good grains fall into the product bin, the deflected object into the reject bin.
