DataMatrix reading and traceability in the injector magazine
A code reader on a gantry stops over every pocket of the magazine and reads the DataMatrix code on the injector body. Each code is matched to its pocket position and written to the production record; a pocket whose code cannot be decoded is flagged.
Each code and pocket match is sent to the traceability record; the read counter and magazine map progress on the display. A pocket that remains unreadable after retry is recorded as NG.

Need
Direct marking on the plastic body can have low contrast, and wear can erase code modules. Codes on similar parts within the magazine must be matched to the correct pocket positions.
Solution approach
An arrival photo-sensor detects the magazine; the gantry moves the reader over each pocket. An image taken normal to the code surface is decoded. A code that fails is tried once more under oblique light from the bar light beside the reader: a different light direction changes surface glare and module contrast. Codes are matched to pocket positions; an unreadable pocket is flagged on the map.
Process steps
- 01
Position
The magazine arrives under the gantry and the reader moves over the first pocket.
- 02
Read
At each pocket the reader strobes, decodes the code and matches it to the pocket position.
- 03
Retry
A code that fails to decode is tried once more with a different lighting setting.
- 04
Record
The magazine record is closed; the unreadable pocket is flagged separately.
