Thread inspection of screws and tapped holes
A multi-hole flange is placed on an indexing table; an oblique camera and ring light image the bore. Bright thread-ring count and regularity are evaluated; a smooth inner wall is marked as a missing thread.
The bore image, ring count and OK/NG result appear on the display. The untapped bore is marked and the station stack light indicates NG.

Need
Thread crests occlude each other inside deep bores and chips can interrupt bright rings. Top-face reflections can make the rim of an untapped hole resemble a thread ring.
Solution approach
The indexing table presents the selected bore to an oblique camera view. A coaxial ring light highlights thread crests; ring count and spacing inside the bore are compared, with an untapped example shown as a smooth inner wall. On external threads, pitch and damage are evaluated from the thread profile in a side silhouette.

Ring count and regularity are shown in the image.
- 04
Decide
An untapped bore or acceptable thread is reported.
